Local suppliers

  • From Goosnargh to Garstang, Balderstone to Bowland we’ve scoured the north west for the finest produce. Being in the heart of Lancashire, we are both fortunate and proud to have some excellent suppliers right on our doorstep.

Our relationship with our suppliers complements our aim to create memorable home-cooked food for our guests, whether your dining in our award winning 2 rosette restaurant or just popping in for a Fish and Chip supper, the freshness & quality of the ingredients remain the same.

  • Huntley’s of Salmlesbury - Ice Cream and Dairy
Eddie Cowpe and his ancestors have farmed the same land for over 700 years. At the turn of current century, in an effort to use surplus milk and cream, Eddie turned his hand to making ice-cream and opened an ice cream parlour on his farm.

The ice cream parlour has since developed into a food hall, a butchers shop, a bakery, Deli and wine merchants to name but a few.

Eddie’s ice-cream is now famous throughout Lancashire. He even exports it to Yorkshire!

  • J. Coulthurst & Sons - Free Range Eggs
All of our eggs are free range and are locally sourced from Kenyons Farm, Bamber Bridge, Preston.

  • Pennys of Accrington - Meat Suppliers

With their farming background, Tim Penny and his father, in true Lancastrian spirit, thought it would be cheaper to butcher their own meat than to get other people to do it!

The beauty of using local produce is you know exactly were your produce is from, Pennys use just a small selection of farms from the Ribble Valley, Trough of Bowland and Lune Valley, supplying lamb, pork and beef.

  • C&G Neve of Fleetwood - Fish and Seafood

From generations of Neve fishermen spawned C&G Neve of Fleetwood. Chris Neve is as passionate about the plight of British Fishermen as he about supplying quality seafood to his customers.

Chris owns three trawlers fishing the North Sea, landing mainly prawns to their homeport of Fleetwood. C&G Neve only supply us with fish and seafood from recognised sustainable fishing stocks.

  • TFS Chatburn (formerly Lawson’s) - Cheese and General Groceries

TFS source cheeses from numerous farms around Lancashire and the north west.

Supplying all our sister hotels with general groceries, the Millstone is in an enviable position of having Lawson’s just 15 minutes up the A59 and they can be with us at the drop of a hat. Not that we ever run out of anything!

  • The Real Black Pudding Company, Haslingden - Black Puddings

They say the proof of pudding is in the eating  - needless to say Andrew Ireland of the Real Black Pudding Company has made a name for himself when it comes to black pudding.

Celebrated by Rick Stein as a local food hero, Andrew was also the 2008 British National Black Pudding Champion.

  • Oliver Kay, Astley Bridge - Fruit and Vegetables

Down the A666 on the outskirts of Bolton you’ll find Astley Bridge home of our green grocers Oliver Kay Produce. Oliver supplies our famous chunky chips, normally cut from Maris Pipers if in season, or if not other seasonal potatoes that chip well.

Oliver’s family had a fish stall on Bolton Market, he found the smell of fruit and vegetables a little more pleasant than fish...the rest is history!

  • Johnson & Swarbrick, Goosnargh - Poultry and Duck

It’s fair to say that Goosnargh Duck is now as well known in the UK as Aylesbury or Barbary Duck.

Reg Johnson has been supplying poultry to some of the country’s finest restaurants for over 20 years, far from taking a back seat now his company is so successful, Reg still does his stint of deliveries and can often be seen nattering with chefs at the kitchen door.
